NEMA was contracted to oversee the renovations and additions to the community center and fitness center on this fully operational Continuing Care Retirement Community. This project included a full commercial kitchen renovation, installation of a temporary modular kitchen, dining room renovations, new library, club room, bar, administration, auditorium, and fitness space. NEMA was engaged as the owner’s agent and project manager to oversee the design and construction of this complex renovation. NEMA worked with the team to value engineer the design carefully in order to maintain the high expectations of the community while also conforming to a tight budget. Additionally, NEMA provided close coordination of ‘owner’ provided IT, kitchen equipment, signage, point of sales systems, temporary modular kitchen, AV, fitness equipment, FF&E, security, and fire alarm. The fully occupied facility allowed for the scrutiny of 300 volunteer supervisors.

The NEMA team has been instrumental in assisting The Forest at Duke with our very complex renovation project. There are many moving parts with multiple parties that was in need of direction and constant focus. NEMA set standing agendas with the right people in the room and having them on-site on a regular basis has kept people on task. I would have not had the time to do this myself along with my regular day job. The only part that I could add as far as feedback – I wish NEMA had come into the process earlier!
